July collective tarot
Where to focus your energy this month (10 of swords)
July is a good time to focus our energy on becoming very observant. What are your fears? Can you name them?
Name them not to give them more power, or to stir up some shame or guilt, but to begin to coax them out of the shadows. When we are brave enough to say to the fear, “Hey, I see you, I’m curious, let’s have a chat”, an opening appears.
Where are you coming up against walls (aka fear/tough emotion/protective coping mechanisms)? Did you put the walls there intentionally? Is the wall serving you? In what ways is the wall supportive? In what ways is the wall not supportive? Or is it perhaps a wall you put in place a long time ago that would actually open up a lot of space and light if you took it down or moved it?
Sometimes our fears keep us safe from immediate threats of danger, sometimes our fears keep us feeling stuck. You don’t have to force through your fears, in my opinion softness is a much lovelier hand to hold as we confront our pain points. You might be ready to move through some fears, or right now might not be the time for you, both are fine. The key message here is to be brave enough to look at and acknowledge whatever fears may be present for you and get curious. If you’re not feeling ready or you don’t have the capacity, you can say to your fear, “I’m not quite ready to process this right now, but I see you and I will come back when I am ready”.
If you need help, seek trusted support, you/we don’t have to do it alone.
What to steer clear of (Knight of Swords reversed)
Steer clear of sexy words that may not be backed with integrity and follow through. Trust your intuition.
When I say sexy here, I mean anything that at first glance appears perfect, enticing, shiny, and magnetic. Beware of smoke and mirrors. Maybe someone is saying all the right things, but you can sense that something feels off for you. This month if something seems too good to be true, it might be.
I’m not suggesting hypervigilance or expecting to be duped (I never want that for you and your sweet nervous system), but I am suggesting taking your time as you exercise embodied discernment this month.
This is a good opportunity for us all to tune up on our grounding practices. The more we are able to become well acquainted with what our own energy feels like, the better equipped we are to discern when something feels right to us or feels a bit off.
Start to sense what it feels like in your body/energy/mind when something is a clear “yes” for you. Start to sense what it feels like in your body when it’s a clear “no” for you. Make it simple, begin with things you already know to be true for you. Take a few breaths and find presence within yourself. Then bring to mind something or someone you know, love, trust, or just makes you happy (could be as simple as imagining eating ice cream or swimming or chatting with a close friend) and notice what it feels like in your body. Then bring to mind something that is a clear “no” for you, maybe you know you hate pickles or mosquitoes or poison ivy, and notice what it feels like in your body. Tune into your senses. Our bodies are great communicators, and it is a worthy pursuit to learn how to interpret the language of our bodies.
As you become more attuned to your own energy, remember that if something feels off, trust your gut, take your time and get more information before you proceed, or just walk away. We don’t always need to understand the “why” behind the intuitive assessment, we can just trust our “no” and move on.
